Billie Faiers Inspired Makeup

IMG_4767

The second look I have created today and is inspired by Billie Faiers from TOWIE who always has flawless glowing skin. For those of you that haven’t heard of Billie I have posted a picture above. The girls in TOWIE always have flawless make up its all about the glamour, glowing skin and lots of tan! I have used the same foundation used by both Billie & Sam Faiers to achieve this look.

To start I prepped my face with Smashbox Photofinish Light Primer I then dampened my beauty blender and applied a pea size amount of Laura Mercier Silk Crème foundation to the back of my hand. This foundation is a crème based foundation and its really thick so a little goes a long way. Laura Mercier recommends shaking the bottle before use and using a damp sponge to apply. I wouldn’t recommend using anything other than the beauty blender to apply this foundation otherwise you tend to find it just smears and moves around your face. If applied with a beauty blender this will give a full coverage flawless satin finish. I used the shade cashew beige which I would say compares to NC40.

Laura Mercier Silk Crème claims to be a flawless light diffusing, wrinkle vanishing, long wearing base. This foundation really is flawless  but oily girls need to be realistic-This is a luminous crème foundation so you are going to need to set with powder such as Mac Studio Fix and blot throughout the day. Its another one of those I keep to one side for nights out rather than a go to for every day.

As you can see Billies under eye area is heavily highlighted so I used Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Peach and a few drops of Mac lustre drops on the cheek bones. You most definitely need to apply a concealer with this foundation as it does crease in the under eye area.  For brows again I used Mac Spiked & the Mac Brow Gel in Show off which is my everyday brow kit.

On the eyes I went for Mac Scene shadow as a base and used  Collection black gel liner and also running =this along the lash line and smudging with a black shadow from the Sleek Storm palette. I then added a flick into the corners of the eye and applied Rimmel black kohl liner in the waterline. To finish I used Urban Decay half baked in the corners to highlight and applied Chanel Le Volume Mascara to my lashes. Of an evening I would also add some false lashes to really glam this up.

I used my favourite bronzer Mac Give Me Sun and as this is a heavily bronzed look rather than using my usual angled brush to apply I used Bobbi Browns blush brush to get a more all over glow. On the cheeks I used Clinique’s Precious Posy blush which is a deep coral which shimmering particles and really makes the cheeks pop. I highlighted with Mac Soft & Gentle which is another product that Billie herself uses.

I applied a Mac lipstick in the shade Dressmaker Dressmaker which is a lovely soft peach shade and a slick of W7 Peach Lights Gloss to finish.

Kim Kardashian Inspired Makeup

IMG_4786

Whether you love or loathe Kim Kardashian there is no denying her makeup is always flawless and on point. Kim has made it very public that her favourite foundation is Makeup Forevers HD foundation which I have also used to create this look.

To give you a little more info on the HD Foundation;Makeup Forever is an American brand and its not readily available to purchase in the UK. There is only one place that I know of where you can get your hands on this which is The Guru Makeup Emporium. (I will post the link below) This also means you have to match yourself up as best as you can which I did by using Findation.com. I wear the shade N155 which I would say is close to Mac Nw30 or Double Wears Ivory Beige.

One thing to note about this foundation is that is has quite a runny wet consistency so I find the best way to apply is with a Buffing Brush so you can really work it into your skin. This is a lovely foundation and has a gorgeous finish but being an oily girl it wouldn’t be my first choice for every day but works really well for nights out and its something I’ll be using on holiday when I want a more glowy finish.

After applying my foundation and primer I used Macs Mineralise Concealer under the eyes and down the centre of the nose in the shade Nw20. This is a really creamy hydrating concealer so it gives a lovely dewy finish.Kim always wears a strong brow so I filled mine in with Mac Spike pencil and a good coat of Mac Brow Gel in Show off to really set them into place.

For eyes it had to be a smokey eye but as it was daytime I have opted for a more natural smokey eye using Sleeks Au Naturel & Storm Palettes along with Rimmels brown kohl liner in the waterline. I curled my lashes with Mac’s eyelash curler  and applied lashings of Chanels Le Volume mascara.

This look is all about a heavy contour so using Macs Give Me Sun Bronzer and an angled brush I sucked in my cheeks to create a solid line as well as applying  bronzer on my forehead close to the hairline. I blended this in with Mac Studio Fix Powder in the shade NC42. To warm up the cheeks I used Mac Blush in peaches which works really well with a tan it gives a lovely terracotta glow.To finish I used Mac Soft & Gentle Highlighter on the tops of the cheeks, down the nose and the cupids bow.

Kim usually wears a pinky nude lip and I happen to know that some of her favourites are Mac’s Angel Lipstick and Nars Turkish Delight Gloss. I have opted for Loreal’s Colour Riche Lipstick in Doutzens nude to complete this look.

For those of you that are a fan of Kim’s look this is really easy to do even if you are new to the whole highlighting/contouring technique. If your wanting to purchase the HD Foundation here is the link as promised:

Date Night Makeup

IMG_4701

There’s nothing better than a sultry smoky eye for a night out and last night was date night! As I was wearing black I wanted to add a twist on the classic black smoky eye and opted for a blue to really make my green eyes pop.

When creating a smoky eye I always apply my foundation first as you tend to get a lot of fall down on to your face and its quite difficult to clean up without looking like a panda.

I started by applying Collections black gel liner all over the lid to give the shadow something to stick too and then went ahead and put Front Covers Deep Lake Pigment on top in a patting motion and then blended with a fluffy blending brush. Next I added they grey shade from Bourjois eye shadow trio in Gris Dandy up to the crease as the transition colour then used Mac eye shadow in Malt to highlight the brow bone. In the waterline I used a grey eyeliner- Any grey eyeliner will do.

At this point I then applied my primer (Smashbox), foundation (MAC SFF) and concealer (Bobbi Brown) before I started underneath the eye. On my lower lash line I used a Lancôme pencil in the shade Curaco Turquoise as a base and then went over this with a black shadow from the Sleek storm palette. To blend this I used the same eye shadow used on the lid and for an extra bit of sparkle I applied Benefit Mint Julep on the lid of my eye. To finish my smoky eye I added some false lashes my favourite ones  are by Eye Candy.

Next up was brows and I used Mac Spike Pencil and a sweep of Mac Brow Gel in Showoff to keep my brows in place.

When wearing  a dramatic smoky eye I prefer to  use  a more neutral shade on the cheeks and lips so I opted for Mac’s Give Me Sun Bronzer for a strong contour and Warm Soul Blush. On the lips I used Mac Hue Lipstick which is my favourite nude lipstick as it has a nice peachy tone.

To complete the look I used Mac Soft & Gentle Highlighter on the tops of the cheeks, down the nose and cupids bow and set with a little Mac Studio Fix Powder!

And there you have it…

I think this is a really great look for a night out and was really happy with the results.

Bank Holiday Makeup

IMG_4636

On a slightly lighter note than my previous post last night saw me get glammed up and head out for cocktails with my friends. You can read all about my bank holiday look below.

Makeup

IMG_4635

To start I prepped my face with my favourite moisturiser Dermalogica Active Moist which is perfect for oily skin. I then applied Smashbox Photofinish Light Primer to create a smooth  base. For foundation I used Mac Studio Fix Fluid which is my go to for nights out and applied with a damp beauty blender. I used the shade NW30 to add some warmth to my skin.

I brightened the under eye area with Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Peach and a few drops of Macs Lustre Drops on the cheek bones to highlight. I set my foundation and concealer with Mac Studio Finish Powder in NC42.

I have green eyes and  I find that the best colours to accentuate them are brown or bronze shades. I chose to use Mac Amber Lights all over the lid and used a Collection Gel Eyeliner to tight line and ran across the lid to create a subtle winged look .In the waterline I used A Rimmel black kohl liner and lashes was my go to Chanel Le Volume Mascara! For my brows I used Mac’s pencil in Spike and Brow Gel in Show off.

To contour I used a Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Give Me Sun which I picked up from Mac on Wednesday which is really lovely. I wanted to create a warm rosy  look so applied Bobbi Brown Pink Coral Shimmer Blush to the apple of the cheeks and a healthy amount of Macs Soft & Gentle highlighter on the cheek bones, down the nose and on the cupids bow.

To compliment the bronze eye shadow I opted for Macs Please Me lipstick which is a soft girly pink. The matte finis is perfect for nights out as it doesn’t budge.

 Hair

I usually wear my hair down for nights out but fancied a change last night and wore my hair in a chic up do using my Balmain B-Loved. I washed my hair earlier that morning and left to dry naturally.

To start I teased my hair and sprayed short bursts of Schwarzkopf Got2b big sexy hairspray to create volume at the crown. I put my hair in a low pony tail and looped through to create a bun letting any loose bits fall down to frame my face. Clipping  the Balmain B-loved over the bun I had just created  I then swirled it round to create a large chignon and pinned into place. I sprayed this with hairspray to hold and pulled out a few bits from the bun to give it a messy look.

Hangover Makeup

Zoeblogpic

So yesterday its fair to say I was feeling pretty horrendous! My beloved Leicester City (Yes a girl that likes football!) got promoted to the Premier League which naturally meant that way too much rose was consumed resulting in a monster hangover. Gross!

This morning however I am feeling mush fresher and thought I would share my Sunday morning look with you all.

To start I primed my face with my favourite primer Smashbox Photo Finish Light and then applied Loreal True Match Foundation with my beauty blender in the shade Golden Sand. I picked this foundation up a few weeks ago from the W7 outlet for a bargain price of £7.99. I’ve been wanting to try this foundation for a while after seeing it used by one of my favourite makeup artists. The shade Golden Sand definitely bears the same undertone as the MAC NW shades and I would say this is between NW25-NW30.

I then applied Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Peach with a Mac 190 brush under the eye area and then a few drops of Mac Lustre Drops on the cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose to brighten and hide any excess hangover.

I contoured using Benefit Hoola Bronzer and used my Mac Studio Fix Powder in NC42 to set it all. I am starting to get a little more tan now so I have switched to Nc42 rather than Nc40. I am enjoying wearing warmer shades of foundation at the moment and in summer I tend to switch from NC to NW as I find sometimes NC can look a little ashy on my skin when I’m tanned.

To finish off I applied Clinique Blush in Precious Posy  which gives a really nice rosy glow and Loreal Colour Riche in Doutzen’s Nude Lipstick which has a lovely soft texture then just a few strokes of Chanel De Volume Mascara & I’m good to go!

Making The Most Of Your Foundation

 SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I am a firm believer in making the most out of your foundation and have mentioned many times before on my blog about pairing your foundation with other products to improve the finish and longevity of your make up.

I have put together some tips and my favourite products that I find help improve the appearance of my makeup and help it stay put all day long.

Moisturiser

For a very long time due to my oily skin I used to skip the moisturiser, I now understand that all though oily my skin still craves moisture and without it- It rebels! Whilst I’m not a fan of a heavy moisturiser I do find that a light moisturiser provides the perfect canvas for my makeup.

Dermalogica Active Moist- £24.50

This is my absolute favourite moisturiser in fact I’m not sure I will ever stray from this! When first applied Active Moist feels quite thick but it really sinks into the skin leaving the skin feeling super soft with no residue.

I purchase all of my Dermalogica skin care products from Beauty Flash you get a really good discount and they also provide you with free samples- http://www.beautyflash.co.uk/dermalogica

Clarins Hydra Matte Lotion- £26.00

Another favourite of mine is the Clarins Hydra Matte lotion. This is a much thinner consistency than the Active moist and feels really light and refreshing on the skin. This a really nice product however despite the thinner consistency I would still say that the Active moist sinks in to the skin more and leaves me feeling matte for longer.

Primer

Primer is one of those things that I thought was pointless for years and it wasn’t until my skin started to get very oily a few years ago that I even considered using a primer. The first primer I ever used was the MAC Face Protect SP50 which at first I really loved but over time I found that my skin got used to this and it wasn’t so effective. I have used lots of different primers but the best one I have found to date is the Smashbox Photofinish Light.

Smashbox Photofinish Light- £25.00

I really wanted to try the Smashbox Photofinish Primer after hearing so many celebrities raving about it. Unfortunately due to my oily skin the original Photofinish was not suitable for my skin despite being oil free-However I have heard great things about this so definitely one to consider if your more on the normal/dry side!

The original formula is very much like a lot of primers out there which are a thick clear paste and leave a slippery silicone like feel on the skin where as the light version is white in colour and is more like a light cream. This makes my skin feel really soft without feeling slippery or irritated and gives a really smooth finish ready to layer my foundation on to.

MAC Cream Matifiante- £15.00

I also really like this product which is actually multi use so can be used for priming the eyelids as well as the face. This is nowhere near on the same scale as the Smashbox Photofinish for me however it is a lovely product that improves the texture of the skin prior to applying foundation and works really well as a base.

Powders

I like to set my foundation with powder every morning either for a bit of extra coverage or a light dusting just to seal my foundation.

Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation- £21.50

This is actually a powder foundation that could be worn alone however this works perfectly for me over foundation and it’s my go to for when I need extra coverage. It really is fantastic and I love everything about this. It keeps me matte without looking powdery and provides a long lasting flawless finish.

Chanel Powder Universelle- £36.00

This is another powder that I love. If you prefer a loose powder to pressed then this one’s for you! It’s quite pricey but the luxurious finely milled powder gives a really flawless natural finish and helps make your foundation last all day.

Mac Blot Powder-£20.00

If you’ve got oily skin then this is match made in heaven. I literally could not live without this in my handbag. I use this for touch ups throughout the day and because there is no colour it means you can apply as many times as you want without it being cakey. Seriously if your oily skinned- Buy this now!

Setting Spray

Urban Decay All Nighter-£19,59

This is not something I use all the time but in the summer I really like to use the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. I believe Urban Decay also do a setting spray for oily skin called De-slick however I have heard that the All Nighter is actually better. I apply this after I have finished my make up just a few sprays and you’re good to go! It feels really light and refreshing on my skin as well as keeping my makeup in place.

Perfection In A Bottle?

 Chanel Pefection Lumiere Review

IMG_4130

Its well noted on my blog that Chanel Pro-Lumiere used to be my HG foundation and I’ve been wanting to give Perfection Lumiere another chance for a while so whilst in John Lewis last weekend I picked up a bottle in the shade 40 which used to be a perfect match in the Pro-Lumiere.

I love how classy Chanel makeup looks on my dresser and the Perfection Lumiere is no different. This foundation comes in a sleek frosted glass bottle with a pump which I love. I applied the foundation with my real techniques buffing brush after I had applied my Smashbox Photofinish Light Primer.

On application this foundation feels really silky almost like talcum powder which for some reason instantly makes me want to take it off it also has a really strong floral fragrance. Once applied  my face felt really soft  but I felt like the foundation was going to slide off- Having said that the colour match was brilliant and I did really like the finish.

I have used this foundation now on 3 occasions and each time it has oxidised getting darker throughout the day as well as making my face feel quite greasy.

Chanel claims that this foundation is long wear flawless fluid make up paying £36 for a foundation you expect it to live up to its claims. This foundation does provide a flawless finish but its certainly not as long wearing as it claims. A pro about this foundation is that it does photograph beautifully in flash photography unlike some other foundations.

This foundation may work on better on someone with more normal skin but its certainly not one I’ll be reaching for on a night out without fear of turning into an oily mess.

Do I like this foundation… YES!  Is it perfection… No!
